Overcoming Procrastination...or not...             Oh, how I have struggled with this little 'noun' of procrastination. Of course, I had some very intellectual rationalizations as to "why" I was justified in delaying the task at hand. In fact, with a bit of imagination thrown into the reasoning, it almost made sense!             Sadly, it becomes a habit and a very destructive and indestructible behavior! Then BOOM! My eyes about popped out of my head when I read this; "Don’t stop procrastinating. You read that right. Don’t try to beat it or even avoid it. Rather, accept it as inevitable, a fact of life. Just write your book and then learn from it! While I am still new to the world of Becoming an Author, I can officially say that I am NOW a published Author of two books in the realm of Young Adult and Children's books. My first book has become an adventure in learning how to be an "Indie" author, meaning an "independent author" in the self publishing arena! And believe me...it is an arena  of bouncing from one path to another.  Needless to say, my first book had amateur's illustrations, grammar and punctuation errors...along with a few other hidden hooplahs. However, it is still dear to me. I call it my "classic-original."  I went on to update the illustrations, fix the errors and republish it. I am still learning more and the biggest thing is....'don't stop writing!' Writing as an "ART" Elizabeth's thoughts...... As I embark on the journey of  " How to become an author" and the mother and son journey of learning how to become authors through trial and error.....I have enthusiastically dove into many avenues of the various approaches to writing.  Trust me, just like Alice in Wonderland' a person could really fall backwards into the rabbit hole of the resources and authors methodologies available on the internet! I have always felt that reading and writing are an 'art.' I admire people who are generous with descriptive details that open a readers mind up to a new world of imagination and inspiration.  Consequently, I discovered the book; "The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity" written by Julia Cameron. Elizabeth's thoughts...life... Of all the self improvement books I have read and 'how to' do this or that; it seems that often they have a common theme. Keep a journal, write down your thoughts and don't over think it.  Recently, I took a "Master Class" taught by a renowned author Joyce Carol Oates based on her book; "The Faith of a Writer: Life, Craft, Art" .   One thing that stuck with me was her message that to be a successful author, you have to write about the difficult things. Confronting the taboo topics no one wants to talk about. She suggested that people read to align with life issues that they have no outlet for. I have pondered this notion a bit and what I have come to realize that it is truly much easier to write about the beautiful sunsets and happy events. It takes courage and transparency to write about your own private 'life events.' I am addressing the times in one's life when you thought you would surely die...
