Hello Friends,

Last newsletter, we were on the road together to Arizona and Texas! I am back in N.C. and had a great time traveling. I managed to cover over 4,500 miles in 11 days...can't believe I was able to drive that far in such a short amount of time.

"The Kids" (Jasper on the left and Trave on the right) also had a fun time exploring the big rocks of Sedona. I was surprised to find that the more tired they got, the less they snored at night. In fact, our usual routine of them waking me up in the morning turned into me waking them up! It was nice while it lasted! :-)

Until next time, here are some fabulous books to get absorbed in!!

Project Happiness is a poetry chapbook I made to help spread more positivity. It covers topics such as staying positive even in the dark times, coping with sadness, and a vison of acceptance in a world where it's almost impossible. The poetry ranges from free verse to haikus to even a cute recipe for happiness. My goal with this poetry chapbook is, even with all the bad in the world, to get at least one person to smile. How to become authors- Writing About the Difficult Things

Elizabeth's thoughts...life... Of all the self improvement books I have read and 'how to' do this or that; it seems that often they have a common theme. Keep a journal, write down your thoughts and don't over think it.  Recently, I took a "Master Class" taught by a renowned author Joyce Carol Oates based on her book; "The Faith of a Writer: Life, Craft, Art" .   One thing that stuck with me was her message that to be a successful author, you have to write about the difficult things. Confronting the taboo topics no one wants to talk about. She suggested that people read to align with life issues that they have no outlet for. I have pondered this notion a bit and what I have come to realize that it is truly much easier to write about the beautiful sunsets and happy events. It takes courage and transparency to write about your own private 'life events.' I am addressing the times in one's life when you thought you would surely die...

It's SOUP Season!!! And there are a lot of different types of soups out there!! Well, being an author and and educator, I seem to use a lot of idioms and metaphors. So, I was thinking of 'soup idioms' and how a few of them spoke to me beginning in November! First I was struck by "to soup something up" while listening to a YouTube guru suggesting I need more exercise!  "Gotta soup up my exercise." ....hhmmm....truer words have never been spoken! I was so motivated that I took the cellophane wrapper off my Jane Fonda VHS aerobic video! Jane and I go way back and she has been packed and moved more times than I care to admit. I guess I should let her go....can't find my VHS player...or the 8 track to play my Foreigner 4 and Toto tracks on...dang where does the time go?!! Did I just hint at my age? Huumppff...think I will have some "Giggle soup!" ( also know as an "old fashioned" alcohol drink) SHOUT OUT LOUD!! I FEEL LIKE WHACKING A ...
